Content Creators Worth Checking Out
Mario Carrion
Mario has a comprehensive set of videos related to software architecture and design patterns, all focusing on Go. His videos are byte-sized and are easy to consume during a quick break.
Akhil Sharma
Akhil focuses on practical project implementations main in Go. If you’re bored and building good projects for your resume is your priority, then Akhil’s channel is the best place. He has a calm lofi background track in most of his videos, so I enjoy his videos when I grab some food and relax at the end of the day. The videos are focused but still calm-paced, so it’s easy to relax while watching them.
Steve Hook
Steve has videos for fundamental Go as well as advanced concurrency patterns with excellent animations and production quality. His videos are usually fast-paced and to the point. I watch his videos when I’m focused and in the mood to do work. His series on Go Concurrency is the best on YouTube, but it’s a work in progress.
Bitfield Consulting
John is an experienced developer with a lively and funny personality. He has a series of videos where he reviews Go code written by his students. The insights are great, and it’s always a pleasure watching him give feedback. He does offer paid mentorships, but I’ll take them sometime in the next year.
Tech School
He has a series of videos showing an end to end development of a software product. Starting with code, configuring databases, writing tests, using GitHub actions, using Kubernetes, deploying to AWS EKS, and more. His delivery may come off as a bit dry, but the content is precious. His videos cover all the practical housekeeping involved in delivering a software product. Those are the same things you would learn in the first month of a software engineering internship.
Observe that there are different occasions for watching different content; I’ve tried to describe that for each creator. All of them are in the growth phase and will indeed become big channels sometime in the future. That means it’s easy to reach out to them right now, have discussions, and build connections. Doing the same is challenging with someone who has a big channel or when these creators will gather a large audience. You can find all of them on YouTube.
